Flamingo Bay, St. Thomas, USVI

We arrived off Water Island at around 2:30 pm after an uneventful, somewhat bouncy ride from Culebra, PR. Yes, the hydraulic steering ram leaked making steering by hand a little difficult and the autopilot didn't function properly: yup, it's a boat. Will work on them this afternoon.

This is our $1 million view while we're here!

I'm trying out our Spot, a GPS/wifi tool that sends messages and our position to a list of people I've programmed in. If you got a message, please let me know what you think of it.

We're here in Charlotte Amalie to stock-up on booze at duty-free prices for both us and Southern Comfort who's going on "the hard" at Puerto Del Rey Marina this morning for a good bottom scraping and painting preparatory to our leaving for CuraƧao. They are delighted to report that all their systems are finally working including their very old, troublesome engine. Obviously Rob was able to noodle through all it's vagaries.

We are both fine (as is the weather) and looking forward to leaving on The Great Adventure II.

  1. Hi Linda and Harry, I am sorry we are going to miss seeing you guys. I just read your blog and want to say have a great time on cruising the South Pacific. By time we return to St Thomas, we will practically have a new boat. New bottom paint, topside paint, new paint on the deck, new hard bimini, Davits, the whole inside has been redone and painted including the heads and galley, new cushions and coverings.
I will be making the trip back to St Thomas but then I will get off the boat for the summer while Steve works with the scouts. We are hoping to spend a month or so in the Bahamas before we meet up with friends in Staniel Cay to help with the trip to St Thomas. I am glad all is well. Godspeed. Sue and Steve on Loose Change
